The hymen tissue can be deformed for various reasons, but it can be restored in most cases.
Are there different types of hymenoplasty?
We perform two different styles of hymenoplasty. If you are planning to have an intercourse within 3 days after the surgery, we perform transient hymenoplasty. You will for sure bleed during the intercourse with this technique. The stiches are unrecognisable and will dissolve quickly.
If you don’t have a planned date for your intercourse and would like to be prepared beforehand, permanent technique would be suitable for you. After the surgery, you need to have 7 days bed rest. The hymen is in the center of the body, all body movements will negatively affect the wound healing. For a proper healing, you need to have a strict bed rest. We know that some clinics require no resting, but we believe that you’ll get a best outcome with a true bed rest.
Which is the best method for permanent hymen?
“Permanent hymen repair” means bleeding in intercourse even after years of surgery. In other words, permanent repair is the process of restoring the hymen to its original state. There are different surgical methods used for a permanent hymen.
Dr. Unal and plastic surgeon Dr. Ersal Kaya developed a new technique to restore the hymen to its original state, and Dr. Ünal has been using this technique since 2010.
In the technique, called “Flap method”, a part of the mucosa is lifted and sewn to the opposite end. The success of this procedure is not very high (it has a success rate of about 20%). Dr. Ünal cleans the deformed areas of the hymen and connects the ends. Dr. Ünal’s method is very similar to the Flap method but the success rate in her hymenoplasty surgeries is over 90%. Also, thanks to the removal of scar tissue in Dr. Ünal's technique, the entrance to the vagina is also narrowed. Therefore, as a result of the hymen repair surgery, the original hymen can be restored.
What is “temporary hymen repair”?
The temporary hymen repair process takes 15 minutes. In our clinic, this procedure is performed under local anesthesia. We create a controlled cut and then sew it. Thus, bleeding occurs from the cut created, it is not the stitch that causes the bleeding. A simple wound is created on the hymen, therefore, the bleeding will definitely occur during intercourse.
Dr. Ünal recommends an intercourse on the day of the surgery or within five days after it. After the hymen repair, there is no need for bed rest; because we do not aim for the wound to heal, we aim for bleeding. For this reason, temporary hymen repair can be performed even on the wedding day. Moving and playing during the wedding do not cause any damage to the tissue, and you will not have pain during intercourse.
Which hymenoplasty technique is used by Dr. Ünal?
Dr. Ünal doesn’t recommend the technique which is also known as the Flap method. It has a high risk of failure. With the surgery method she developed and has been using since 2010, you will have the original structure of the intact hymen.
Can someone else realize that I had hymenoplasty?
No one else can realize that you had a hymenoplasty surgery, other than you and your doctor. Temporary hymen repair can be apparent during the doctor's examination, but your partner cannot notice it during the intercourse.
There are many young girls who are preferred an affordable hymenoplasty, and they are in a very difficult situation. Because the person performing the procedure uses non-melting stitches, and he/she stitches the wrong areas. Such a suture will of course be noticed by the partner. If you have a temporary hymen repair made with appropriate materials, sterile environment and good technique, it cannot be noticed by a stranger.
Does permanent hymen repair or temporary hymen repair will definitely bleed?
In both methods, there’ll be a bleeding during intercourse. The main difference between the two is the maximum time passed after the surgery for the intercourse. In the temporary method, it is necessary to have intercourse in a short time (5 days) after the operation; but in the permanent method, even after a long time after the operation, bleeding will occur.
What should be the elapsed time after the “permanent hymen surgery” to the intercourse?
Most patients usually see Dr. Ünal for permanent hymen surgery 1-2 months before the wedding or the planned intercourse. If there is a wedding planned, it does not make sense to the operation within a month or two to the wedding. Because you need a bed rest for seven days after the surgery, and this may cause difficulties for you in the pre-wedding period.
Dr. Ünal recommends that you have permanent hymen repair done at least three months in advance.
If recovery is bad after permanent hymen surgery, is there a solution?
If you had hymen surgery but the surgery did not work, you can have a second surgery 1 month later. Dr. Ünal knows some patients who underwent permanent hymen surgery for the second time and saw improvement. But the chance of success in the second surgery is around 70%. If you had permanent hymen repair and it was unsuccessful, trying the temporary method may be an easier and secure option for you.
What is the ideal time between the intercourse and the temporary hymen repair?
In case of temporary hymen repair, you should have an intercourse within the first five days after the surgery for a definite bleeding. In other words, you can have intercourse immediately after temporary hymen repair surgery, or after a few days. In both cases, you will bleed; effects of the procedure will disappear one week after the procedure.
Do I need another examination after permanent hymenoplasty?
There is a 5% risk of failure after permanent hymenoplasty surgery. It would be appropriate to come for a control examination 1 month after the operation.

Kalıcı kızlık zarı onarımından önce vajinal akıntınızın olmaması gereklidir. Aksi halde enfeksiyon nedeniyle ameliyat edilen dokuda açılma olacaktır. Enfeksiyon akıntısı varsa ameliyat öncesi mutlaka antibiyotik ile tedavi edilmelisiniz.
Kızlık zarı onarımı adet kanamanızdan hemen sonra veya adete 7 gün kalana kadar yapılmalıdır. Ameliyat sonrası hemen adet görmeniz yara yerinde açılmaya sebep olabilir.
Ameliyattan önce bu bölgeyi sabun, duş jeli veya genital bölge temizleyici ile yıkamayı bırakmalısınız ve günlük ped kullanmamalısınız. Mukozada alerji ve dermatit gibi yara yerinin iyileşmesini geciktirecek sorunlar olmamalıdır.
Bu işlem kimler için uygundur?

Ameliyat öncesinde şunu bilmelisiniz ki, ameliyatınız hangi teknikle yapılırsa yapılsın, kim yaparsa yapsın, kızlık zarının ameliyat sonrası iyileşmeme ihtimali vardır. Dikişlerin açılması çoğunlukla hareket etmeye ve vajinal enfeksiyona bağlıdır.
Operasyondan sonra?
Başka yerde ameliyat olduktan sonra işlemin başarısının kontrolü için Dr. Ünal’a başvuran genç kızlar, doktorunun işlem sonrası herhangi bir istirahat önermediğini ve normal hayatlarına hemen devam ettiklerini dile getiriyorlar. Bu durum tabiki yapılan ameliyatta başarı şansını ciddi derecede düşürüyor.
Dr. Ünal, kalıcı kızlık zarı ameliyatı sonrası en az yedi gün tamamen yatak istirahati öneriyor.
Vücudumuzun en hareketli yeri orta hattıdır. Yani sağdan sola dönerken elinizi veya ayağınızı sabit tutabilirsiniz ama orta hat olan kızlık zarının da bulunduğu pelvik tabanı hareketsizdir, sabit tutamazsınız. Oturup kalkma, yürüme, koşma, tuvalete gitme sırasında bu bölge gerilir. Kızlık zarı onarımı sonrası hareket kısıtlaması mekanik ve fizyolojik sebepler nedeniyle gereklidir. Kızlık zarı onarımı için kullanılan dikişler çok incedir ve buradaki mukozanın iyileşmesi için dikişlerin bir süre burada işlevsel şekilde kalması gereklidir. İlk yedi gün, yani dikişlerin etkisinin azalıp, dokunun iyileşmeye başladığı zamana kadar mutlaka hareketsiz yatmanız gerekir.
Ameliyattan sonra bir hafta duş almamalısınız. Ayrıca ameliyat sonrası ilk yedi gün kabız kalmamalısınız, ilaçlarınızı düzenli kullanmalısınız ve pansumanınızı sabah akşam yapmalısınız.
Kızlık zarı ameliyatından sonra 1 ay bisiklete binmemelisiniz, koşu yapmamalısınız. Pilates ve yoga gibi sporlara ameliyattan 1 ay sonra başlayabilirsiniz.
İşlem sırasında hangi anestezi tipi kullanılıyor?
Bu işlem sırasında anestezi şart değildir. İşlem uygulanan bölge lokal anestezi ile uyuşturulduğu için işlem sırasında ağrı hissetmezsiniz. Uyuşturma işlemi dahi ağrılı değildir.
Hastayı uyutan anestezinin kendine göre riskleri vardır, alerji, bulantı, kusma vb. Uyutulmanın uygulanmadığı hastalarda, ameliyat sonrası dönem daha konforlu oluyor. Dr. Ünal, hem kalıcı hem de geçici yöntemde lokal anestezi kullanıyor.
